Hi Guys,
I have a problem with an alpha boiler, model CB24. When I turn the hot tap water on boiler switch on and produce hot water but for only 1-2 minutes. If I want more hot water I need to close and open the tap again, and again and again… imagine a bath like this. I have enough… Any ideas what may be the issue. I should add that each time I open the tap boiler starts to work, but then it switches off, no lights.
Thanks
Jake
Hi Jake,
I think it will be a problem with the DHW heat exchanger, it will either need to be exchanged or you will need to check if it is not blocked by sth. I would vote for being blocked rather. If you remove the heat exchanger from the boiler and clean it a bit it can fix your problem.
Hi
I have an Apha Combi boiler and it loosing a pressure every single day. Every evening I re-pressure the system and by the next afternoon it is already showing warning lights. I should add that after re-pressuring the system I also air-vent the radiators. It just doesn’t help and I am tired of doing it each and everyday. Can someone help telling me what is wrong and should be replaced?
Connor
Hi Connor,
Honestly many things may be wrong and all seems serious: heat exchanger failure, expansion vessel or pump. I would call for a Alpha boiler specialist, especially if it is a new Alpha model, repairs with those are rear but never easy. It will take a guy 3-4 hours but you will get all needed parts replaced and your boiler will work again without crazy daily adjustments.
Hi,
I have an Alpha boiler model 240, it is 1.5 year old, and it takes around 10 min for water to warm up to the temperature I can use for having a bath. It is really disturbing as I got used to having Alpha Combi where hot water was very hot straight away. Can someone confirm that what I described is a problem or normal operation?
Best Regards
Jamie
Hi Jamie
It is a fault not a normal operation. Alpha 240 should produce hot water (for a bath) at no time. I think your micro-switch is failing and should be replaced. If your boiler is just 1.5 years old, it is still under warranty and can be fixed free or charge or even replaced. Call Alpha customer service to request for better for you (I would go with whole boiler replacement)
Hi,
I have an Alpha CB24, it is 12 years old and is being stored in the utility room. It stopped working for both hot water and central heating. I restarted it several times and it helped for a day or two, but then problem comes back. I observed that before boiler switches off it shows red overheat lamp, but it switches off each time appox. after 1 min. Any idea what may be the issue?
Sam
Hi Sam
I think it will be either air pressure switch or some-kind system block. I think I would check if it is air pressure switch myself/replace it if necessary, but if not I would call for a specialist because blockages need more experience, and all boiler checks need to be done afterwards.
Hi
I have an Alpha HE boiler model CB33 yesterday a yellow/orange “B” lamp started flashing. I restarted boiler 3 times, no success. It’s making some loud noics! Anyone an idea what is wrong and how to solve it?
Nathan
Hi Nathan
Per manual B lamp flashing means ” restricted flow or a pump fault”. If it makes loud noise it is pump fault almost for sure. You will need to get the pump replaced. As it is a bigger job, you may want to have a specialist doing it rather than yourself.
Hi Guys
I have Alpha boiler model CB 24, it is pretty old (10 years old), but I had no problems with it over the time so I would like to repair it rather than purchase a new boiler. It completely doesn’t work showing low system pressure fault. I think I have the ability to re-pressurize the system myself, just don’t know the optimal values. Could someone provide please?
Thanks
Jacob
Hi Jacob
Before re-pressuring system yourself keep in mind that all works on Alpha boilers should be performed by qualified boiler specialist (GasSafe Registered). Correct optimal system values are: 1.5-2 bar. All checks should be done afterwards: continuity, polarity, gas etc
Hi Folks
I have an Alpha Combi boiler model HE25, it is 5 years old and so far it worked really fine. Yesterday however it started to give warm/luke water instead of hot water. What’s more I realized that when I open a hot tap (request hot water) boiler is also leaking. Any idea what is wrong? How it can be solved?
Best Regards
Ben
Hi Ben
This is a pretty common problem with Alpha Combi boilers. I am almost 100% sure your diverter valve got damaged and should be replaced. You will find some directions on how to replace it in the troubleshooting page here, but you should keep in mind that qualified personnel is needed to complete repairs on boilers generally.
